Pre-Arrest Representation
Providing Skilled Representation Nation-Wide
If you are under investigation for a crime, NOW is the best time to consult with an experienced criminal defense attorney. You have certain rights under the law, including the right to counsel and the right to remain silent.
If the police stop by for a casual chat, please follow this recommendation from criminal defense lawyer Jerome Paun: Don't talk to the police without consulting with an accomplished lawyer.
Officers conducting the criminal investigation are not your friends. Their job is to gather evidence so that you can be arrested and later charged. The truth is, anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. Don't let this happen to you.
For experienced criminal defense counsel, call The Law Office of Jerome Paun, toll-free at (860) 455-4202. We strive to protect the rights of every client under investigation with an effective defensive strategy. Our goal is to create a positive outcome.
Getting the Legal Advice You Need While Under Investigation
Attorney Jerome Paun understands that it is difficult to budget for unexpected bills like attorney fees.
We offer clients a modest fixed fee package, so that they have access to decisive counsel if under investigation for all felony and misdemeanor charges including, but not limited to:
- Drug charges, including possession or manufacturing
- Sexual abuse or sexual assault involving a minor
- Risk of injury to a minor
- Assault
- Theft, burglary or robbery
You have the right to object to a search in your car or in your home. If the police cannot show a valid search warrant, you don't even have to open the door. If law enforcement shows up with an arrest warrant, you have the right to step outside and have them arrest you there to avoid disrupting your home.
Avoiding Public Embarrassment
When we accept you as a client, we inform the investigators that The Law Office of Jerome Paun is representing you, and that they must arrange interviews with you through our office.
Sometimes arrest is unavoidable. We ask the investigators to contact us before an arrest warrant is issued, so that our attorney can arrange for a peaceful surrender. This avoids the humiliation of being led away in handcuffs at work or the disruption of a midnight arrest at home. A peaceful surrender is helpful for the police, too, as they avoid the costs and hassles of tracking down a suspect, and stay out of harm's way.
While it is not ideal, it is far better to present oneself at the police station for arrest at an appointed time. We can be there accompanied with a bail bondsman, so you can get out as quickly as possible.
